About us
Ash wood
We get the majority of our raw materials from the Danish woods nearby. Thus, we can be sure of applying a raw material that will always be available. According to Danish legislation, it is prohibited to fell more trees than we plant in Denmark. In fact, Denmark's total wooded area is increasing every year.
The wood we use stems from the foliferous wood, ash tree. It is a self-seeding tree growing among birch trees, often in moist forest soil. When the trees are 40-70 years old, they are ready to be "harvested".
The forest workers fell the trees during the winter months, and we join them in the forest in order to choose the trunks that would fit our production best. The trunks that we cannot use are typically sold for production of floors.
The big trunks are transported to the factory's sawmill department where they are cut into work pieces. At this time, the pieces contain up to 50% of water, and we cannot make furniture of them before they have been dried to a water content of 8%. That is why they are stored for three weeks in our large drying room.
The work pieces are now ready for the finished production.
Beech wood
As we offer our furniture made in steamed beech wood, we also use Denmark's "national tree". We do not cut this tree up ourselves but buy it as dried planks from other sawmills.
Cherry wood
In order to be able to offer the best quality to our customers, we get this raw material from the United States in full trunks that are cut up and dried in the same way as ash wood.
Other raw materials
Of course, we use other raw materials than wood. In some furniture, aluminium is integrated, in others different metals. We buy these products from our sub-suppliers.
